Ballet line is a high energy dance on skiis! The girls perform a choreographed dance to music while skiing. While performing their dance on the water you may see the girls holding the handle in various different ways. Placing the handle between their legs or using a heel or toe hold leaves the girls hands free for arm movements. The picture above shows our 18 girl ballet line strutting their stuff. Our 18 girl ballet line is the largest ballet line ever performed in the history of the Iowa State Show Ski Tournament!
It takes many hours of practice to just learn the choreography for this act. The girls have also spent many more hours learning how to do a hop-dock alone and in large groups. The boat driver is very critical to this act. Just a little to fast or too slow off the dock and the girls might get pulled out the front or sunk. The picture below shows the boat driver giving our 14 girl ballet line a perfect pull off the dock.
